I’m Edie Higby, I have a Master’s Degree in Happiness Studies, and I am a Certified HOPE & Happiness Health Educator/Coach. I’m on a mission to change the world—one Joyful heart at a time—through what people are now calling the Happiness Revolution. My life’s work, Joy By Design | Live Life INSPIRED, is an invitation to explore what it truly means to Practice Joy and Wellbeing with Purpose, Presence, and Heart.
Through The INSPIRED Happiness Health Intelligence (HHI) Model, we discover how Joy, Meaning, and Connection form the foundation of living a life of Purpose, Peace, and Possibility. This work introduces the 8 Joy Pillars, 20 Positive Emotions and 40 Essential Joy Literacy Principles, a new language of Happiness designed to help us live with greater Clarity, Compassion, and Creativity—no matter what challenges we face.

You see, Joy is my product and Happiness is my business – very serious business indeed.
Joy is not just an emotion. It is absolutely essential to our Happiness Health, Physical Health, Mental Health and Our Wellbeing.
It is an Intentional Practice, a Learned Literacy, and the most powerful expression of Human Resilience.
Like many of you, I am no stranger to overwhelming sadness, loss and unspeakable grief. I am a survivor, and have lived through the devastation, and the ache of rebuilding - and starting over again. It was in those darkest moments that Practicing Joy became my lifeline—transforming Pain into Purpose and Despair into Discovery. Over time, it became clear: Joy is our Superpower.
One foundational truth I have learned, is that hopelessness is the worst possible human experience there is. And the deficit of Joy is real - in my opinion, it is a national public health crisis. In 2022, I lost my brother to this silent epidemic of despair. That day split my life into “before” and “after,” and it ignited my purpose: to dedicate my life to building pathways of Joy & Hope so no one else feels alone in their darkness.
I don't ever want what happened to me and my family, to happen to anyone.
In my new book Joy By Design | Live Life INSPIRED, I combine the magic of storytelling with the science of wellbeing. It draws on evidence-based research to show that Happiness isn’t reserved for the lucky few - it’s a skill that can be learned, a practice, and a choice available to every single one of us. With the right tools and guidance, we can all learn to Design Joy-filled days and live life INSPIRED.
Happiness doesn’t always happen by chance. More often than not, it must be created, nurtured, and designed - even on the hardest days.
When we Practice Joy intentionally, we strengthen our emotional foundation, deepen our inner calm, and open pathways to meaningful connection. We build resiliency. We awaken our senses to the Present Moment and expand our awareness of the Awe, Wonder and Magic happening all around us. Practicing Joy, Loving Kindness and the Magic of Micro Moments!
